Location

San Giovanni is named after the Basilica, which is the parish church of Rome. The area is filled with ancient churches and ruins fromthe Imperial days. One such church is the ninth century “Santa Maria Maggiore” which is quite stunning inside. Of course there are numerousbars, restaurants and trattorias in the neighbourhood, catering for a very international cuisine. A strong recommendation is Restaurante Baia Chia. Parco Della Caffarella is a wonderful place to relax and have a picnic and the Baths of Caracalla are on a par with everything the city has to offer. Public transport is excellent and the nearest metro stop is San Giovanni from which you have access to the whole city. The bus service is also great and there are several bus stops nearer your front door if needed.
